On Sunday, 22nd December, 2019, everyone in the United Kingdom woke up with one million pounds in cash under their beds.
The miracle – or catastrophe – was never adequately explained. In the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic the event was largely forgotten or treated as an urban legend.
Until now.
In this explosive volume, investigative journalist/historian Kit Power finally blows the lid off that surreal, impossible morning. Focussing on a few residents of Milton Keynes, a uniquely diverse city northwest of London, Power lays bare:
– the wonder of waking up to a found fortune through the eyes of a neglected child
– the madness and panic of an unprepared public from the perspective of an overworked police officer
– the graphic terror inflicted by a band of reprobate gangsters for whom too much is never enough
– the strangeness of it all through the outlook of man’s best friend

MILLIONAIRES DAY

Dark bleatings, my transatlantic tribe! Have you ever heard of Vortex Books & Comics? Perhaps you’re planning to attend AuthorCon V/Scares That Care at the end of the month? Well, I have a little relevant announcement! Kit Power, author of the highly controversial and divisive Millionaires Day, is heading all the way from the windy, rainy UK to you guys in the USA.
Who is Kit Power, you may be asking. He’s a UK based author of fiction, responsible for the brand new thriller, Millionaires Day, the tremendous apocalyptic works, The Finite and A Song for the End, and the explosive Godbomb! He’s also the creator and original writer of the extremely popular article series, My Life in Horror, hosted on Gingernuts of Horror.
He’s coming all the way over to you guys to meet you, chat, experience the best that your nation can offer him, and of course, sell books! He’s a personal favourite of mine, and if you give him half a chance, he’ll probably become one of yours too.

He’ll be signing books, meeting readers, and experiencing the sheer brilliance of being in Brian Keen’s presence at Vortex Books & Comics on Sunday 23rd March (1pm-3pm). Legend has it that Brian’s aura is so powerful that only book fanatics can glimpse him without losing it like those people in Bird Box. God help you if Mary SanGiovanni is also there because I hear that their combined luminescence has the potential to go supernova.

Anyway, Kit will be there with fellow author and owner of French Press Publishing, Stephen Kozeniewski, where they’ll be trading, signing books, telling what I’m assured are the most hilarious jokes you’ve ever heard (no pressure, guys), and arguing about the FACT – no matter what Stephen says – that you absolutely do not dip Welsh Cakes in a cup of tea. Gross.

The following weekend, (March 28th-30th) Kit (and Stephen!) will be flogging their wares at Scares That Care (AuthorCon V). I think this is Kit’s first visit to the USA, and I know for sure that this is definitely his first convention out there, so I hope you guys will make him feel welcome and at home! I’ve also not yet got to attend such an amazing overseas event and I’ve been dying to go for years, so I’m hoping you guys will show him a great time and send him back with lots of delightful anecdotes to tell me!

If you’re not attending these events but would like to check out Millionaires Day, you can find it HERE.
Finally, I’d like to thank my American readers for your support of Happy Goat Horror, both here at the website and over on my YouTube channel. For the first time….possibly ever…I bothered to look at my analytics the other day, only to discover that the majority of the goat tribe are over there in the USA. It made my goaty little heart soar to know that our tribe extends so far! As a thank you for your readership, I thought I’d do the best I can to give you a new great author to read by flinging Kit Power’s imminent arrival at your attention, because he’s awesome.
Wishing you all a fantastic month, and excellent bookish events!
Bleeeeeat!
