A long hot night in the city, pregnant with possibilities. The devil itself, visiting our realm to claim an errant soul. A jaded rockstar summoning a goddess of judgment for the hell of it. An abandoned lot whose sordid history has been long forgotten. Paramilitary Christians who travel through time to rescue Jesus from his crucifixion. These are just some of the places and people you will be introduced to in this unique collection of stories from the mind of Mike Krutz.

Dark bleatings, my awesome tribe. Another collection review for you today, and another book that I can happily recommend to you. Let’s dive into the stories!
Pleasure Seekers
Ahhh, I hated to do it but I bailed about halfway in. It wasn’t that I wasn’t enjoying it, because initially I really was very interested. The problem (for me) was that it kept jumping to different characters, seemingly a different one every time, and half the time there were no names, just pronouns, so I lost track of wtf was happening and I couldn’t keep up with who anyone was. In hindsight, I can’t tell you what this story was about because I got so confused. I think maybe if the character sections had been headlined in some way with their names or something, that would have helped, though perhaps there was a good reason it was structured the way it was and I just didn’t read far enough to get it.
I really liked the writing itself, I guess I just didn’t gel with the story telling style.
Night Women
Loved it! Two guys, Chase and Mark, are out on the town and looking to pick up some ladies. Honestly, I didn’t particularly like these guys, but I don’t think they were deserving of what was around the corner for them…
If ever there was an effective warning about the dangers of drinking to excess, this is it. I was thoroughly entertained!
Empty Lot
This one is interesting because it’s the story of a place, rather than a person, and it’s very short. What I really liked about it was that the few details given really opened up my imagination about the decades of activity at this location, and made me see how differently each person would see it.
Devil’s Bargain
Very short and wry. A man sold his soul, but now the thought of hell fire is really starting to bother him, and Satan is stalking him. Fun story with great, final imagery.

Time of the Month
I published a werewolf story last year called That Time of the Month, so this short little sweetness was a delight for me. Great (or twisted!) minds think alike!
The Second Last Supper
I think this might be my favourite overall. Some very religious people force a scientist to take them back to the day of Christ’s crucifixion because they plan to bring him to the present to “fix” things. Obviously, this goes awry. I found it thought-provoking and also, in a dry way, quite funny.
I’d say this is a short but mighty collection of horror stories that are all completely different to each other, so there’s plenty of variety. It’s also a pretty quick read so I’d for sure recommend this, especially if you’re looking for something that you can read in short blocks of time.
