10 More Awesome Horror Movies From The Last Decade

Dark bleetings! About a month or so ago, I wrote an article called My Top 50 Horror Movies From The Last Decade and I thought I was pretty thorough. However, since then, I’ve seen more that definitely deserve to be on that list. I also may have… er…. forgot about a couple. So without further ado, I’m here to right that wrong! Here are 10 more that are absolutely worth your time.

I didn’t include this before because it wasn’t one of my favourites. However, after a friend questioned this decision, I realised I was wrong. There are scenes in this that scared the pellet-like poop out of my goat butt.

A boy capable of astral projection is noticed by some… undesirables, and his dad journeys somewhere scary as f*** to save him.

PS. I know technically this shouldn’t be here because it came out in 2010, however the franchise is still going and I mean the franchise as a whole.

A guy arrives to work at a lighthouse, and it’s just him and the old, weird, mean guy that’s already there (no, not like The Lighthouse). They’re completely isolated and alone… or are they?

This made me feel cold just watching it, and at times uncomfortable.

Oh man, this is such a great movie! Outstanding performances and a plot that had me on the edge of my seat (that I can’t go into really without spoiling it). A disabled girl and her mother get on great, and have a fabulous routine. However… the daughter one day discovers that something is not quite right….

I don’t know why it took me so long to get around to this but I finally did and I loved it! Set in the 70s, a group of sexy people rent out a secluded little house to film a porno. But the old couple who own the place don’t take too kindly to them.

This film is an absolute blast.

I can’t believe I forgot to include this last time! A teenage boy fancies his awesome babysitter for completely understandable reasons. But one night, when he’s supposed to be asleep, he witnesses something that changes his mind. Also… there’s like, gallons of blood in this film!

This starts like your average film and then becomes balls-to-the-wall chaos – in the most fun, funny ways.

I love Florence Pugh and will watch anything she’s in.

A brother/sister team go around conning people into thinking they can exorcise unwanted ghosts from their homes. But then Florence actually starts to see things.

This is one of the more stereotypical movies on this list, but it’s pretty solid and I enjoyed it.

I can’t tell you anything about the plot and strongly suggest going in as blind as possible – don’t watch the trailer, don’t even watch the snippet it autoplays if you hover over the thumbnail on Netflix.

There’s a house and something that’s going on inside it is amiss.

A phenomenon known as “the shimmer” appears – an area suddenly enveloped in a mysterious, opaque shroud. People go in but no one comes out… until someone does. Natalie Portman plays the ex-military wife of the soldier who returns, and volunteers to go inside the shimmer to try to figure out how to save him. There’s stuff in there.

Not a perfect movie but I was so intrigued and the ideas were really interesting, plus the stress of their situation really got under my skin!

What in the holy From Dusk Till Dawn is this movie?! Once again, sorry but I’m telling you nothing. Go in blind.

I had an absolute blast with this one.

Very rarely do I love a remake this much. A dancer auditions for her dream dance school in Berlin, in the 1940s. The women who run this dance academy have… talents, let’s say. People either seem to love or hate this one, and I firmly, strongly ADORE it. Visually, thematically, story-wise, it is wonderful. The horror scenes in particular are just fabulous.

Have I forgotten any? Tell me your favourites!
